#Book #Review. . .Get Over It! by Iyanla Vanzant #Fivestar #Goodread

Today—as repeated attempts to “fix ourselves and our lives” fail—many of us face unprecedented fears about the future, struggle with unspeakable life tragedies, and sink under the belief that certain lives do not matter in our society. Others confront our epidemic of anxiety with fierce resistance, or “the fight to be right,” criticizing anyone and everyone just to end up stuck.

In the face of such pervasive human suffering, New York Times best-selling author and legendary life coach Iyanla Vanzant challenges us: What if it’s not them—what if it’s you? What if you need to “get over it”—and get over yourself? Because no matter how much we would like to blame people and circumstances beyond our control, the truth is staggeringly simple: anything and everything we experience is a function of what and how we think. In Get Over It! Iyanla offers a unique spiritual technology called “thought therapy,” a process that harnesses proven spiritual tools with the science of neuroplasticity. The 42 prayers and affirmations, and complementary energy-clearing tools at the heart of the thought therapy process are designed to neutralize and eliminate the unconscious, unproductive, soul-destroying dominant negative thought patterns (DNTPs) and discordant emotional energies, allowing you to get to the root cause of your personal suffering, and make life-affirming choices.

If you’re ready to break free of your ego’s resistance and willing to face yourself, willing to change, and willing to heal and grow—then now’s the time to Get Over It!

There are many things I love about Iyanla, but the main thing I love is you will not get any BS from her. She is what she is and she does what she does and owns up to her responsibility to self and her role in it! You can’t get any more real than that.

I absolutely love watching her show Iyanla Fix My Life on OWN. And what’s funny is, having watched her on television, at no point did it ever occur to me to read one of her self-help books. Well, duh, what was I thinking? When I saw her pretty face on the cover of Get Over It, I said you know what, I’m going to read this lady’s words because I love her on TV and what she does for the wounded souls out here.

If you’ve had the pleasure of watching her in action, as I have, then you will absolutely one hundred percent love her latest book. When I tell you she gives you the lessons in which you need to help guide your life in the correct direction, I mean that whole-heartedly. There were so many sections of this book that I highlighted for future reference because I plan to ‘do the work’ as she so eloquently advises her clients. I pray that I can be so fortunate as to take one of her live workshops, but at this time, I’ll just settle for her online workshops. Iyanla makes my damn day—you hear me! She just gives it to you straight and you can either like it or not, she will never steer your wrong.

I only know of one such woman that I feel that connected to in which I can truly trust and that woman is my mother. I’ve never met another female outside of close relatives with whom I felt really has my best interest at heart. Iyanla is the real deal! Oh yes, mark my words, she is about, not only herself, but she’s all about you! She wants to see you succeed as a human being. She wants you to win, and that’s what her thought therapy is all about. There are many things she talks about that I already do, as far as meditation goes, but I need to kick up my game a notch and she’s given me the tools to add to my daily regimen.

I’m truly convinced there isn’t a soul she cannot mend. I seriously believe that. If she can’t help get you on the right path it’s only because ‘you’ didn’t try. This woman has dealt with some of the toughest souls ever, and if she can’t break through and get people to see why their lives are in the state they’re in, that’s a soul that can’t be fixed. Iyanla is that good! I’m amazed at her work and how well she interacts with people. I’m in awe of her sincerity and generosity to help others. You don’t find many people like that nowadays. It is my hope and prayer that I get to meet her in person and advise how much she’s helped my life. I’ve learned a great many things from watching her and now having read her latest installment, I’m a better woman and person. Thank you, Iyanla, for always keeping it one hundred and for sniffing out the bullshit people try to throw your way. She ain’t having none of that! What an awesome book and an even more amazing beautiful spirit. We need more Iyanlas in the world!

If you haven’t read, I urge you to get this book and start your thought therapy today! I know I am!
