The #Sexy #Nerd #Review...The Favor...#Mystery #Suspense #Thriller #Netgalley #TheFavor

A gripping debut domestic suspense novel, The Favor explores with compassion and depth what can happen when women pushed to the limit take matters into their own hands.

Staying is dangerous. Leaving could be worse.

Leah and McKenna have never met, though they have parallel lives.

They don’t—ever—find themselves in the same train carriage or meet accidentally at the gym or the coffee shop. They don’t—ever—discuss their problems and find common ground. They don’t—ever—acknowledge to each other that although their lives have all the trappings of success, wealth and happiness, they are, in fact, trapped.

Because Leah understands that what’s inside a home can be more dangerous than what’s outside. Driving past McKenna’s house one night, she sees what she knows only too well herself from her own marriage: McKenna’s “perfect” husband is not what he seems. She decides to keep an eye out for McKenna, until one night, she intervenes.

Leah and McKenna have never met. But they will.

The Sexy Nerd's Review. . .
This book really brings so many thoughts to mind. First and foremost, when you walk past a stranger do you ever wonder, if only for a few seconds, what type of life that individual has? Have you taken that thought even further as to follow this stranger home to see where they live or how they live? No, you say? Well, Leah was that inquisitive type of person. When she saw someone that looked interesting, she decided to follow them. Sort of creepy right? In any other circumstance I would be inclined to agree, but for this one instance, Leah did a good thing.

Now that Leah knew where her stranger lived, she became so intrigued to learn more about this pretty woman she passed in a liquor store. You might be saying to yourself what kind of work did Leah do that she had this kind of time to be following anyone? Well, to tell you that would give away a major clue, but what I can tell you is, you’ll have to read to find out. On one particular visit, Leah was sitting outside doing her usual sleuthing when she noticed a very expensive sports car pull into the garage. An extremely handsome man got out of the car with his briefcase and headed into his home. As Leah continued to watch as the man went to his bedroom and changed clothes and then came back to the kitchen where he met his (she assumed) wife to plant a kiss upon her forehead, it soon became very obvious that something wasn’t quite right.

The stranger woman recoiled at the sight of her husband. She not only recoiled but visibly looked ill at the very thought of her husband touching her. It appeared that one thing led to another and the husband began physically assaulting his wife and Leah knew in that instance something had to be done. And Nerds when I tell you this story takes off like a rocket, it just soars and soars and soars!

OMG! What an incredible story. There is so much more I’d love to tell, but I can’t without giving away too many spoilers and you already know I don’t do spoilers over here. This is one of those stories that will stick with you for many years to come, or at least it will with me. I loved the way the author bent the story and the narrative to suit each character and you’ll enjoy investing your time in getting to know each of their thoughts. She didn’t overdo it nor did she add so many characters that it’s hard to keep up. You have three main characters you’re going to follow and each of their stories add layers upon layers of the bigger picture. I’d actually love to see this book turned into a film. I could just see this streaming on Netflix or Hulu, possibly Amazon Prime. Yasss, I would definitely tune in to watch. This novel was like a soap opera on steroids. I absolutely loved it. And the ending was so spot on. It turned out just like I knew it should have and it was truly amazing!

The Sexy Nerd gives The Favor five helping hands. This story was incredible. It was thought-provoking, a nail biter and edge-of-your-seat type of thrill. I’d say this is the best book I’ve read for 2022 thus far. I think this may end up on my all-time favorite list, it’s that good!
